what a step up
Date of Review: Dec 2, 2007
The Bottom Line: Overall, this monitor combines a great set of features--size, response time, design--that makes it worth the money.
Going from an old 17 inch CRT to this monitor is quite a step up. This monitor is sleek in design. Easy to use on-screen display. Buttons are nicely tucked away under the monitor so the the only unsightly button is the power button which glows blue. Easy to read sharp text, even at highest resolution 1680 x 1050. Monitor really shines during gaming with the 2ms response time. No ghosting of images during Call of Duty 2 or other games I've played on the monitor. Wide-screen format great for watching DVDs and browsing web (let's you see more of the page, eliminating scrolling left to right) I would definitely buy this monitor again. I bought this product because I trusted the Samsung name to provide quality and after 4+ months of daily use, it is still delivering. Provides both older and newer DVI inputs. Because of glossy design the edge of the monitor does show dust, so if that would be an issue skip this monitor and look for one with a matte finish. The edge of the monitor is thin though (less than an inch) This monitor does not have built-in speakers which if you already have a nice set of speakers, is a useless feature for which you don't need to pay. If you looking for a monitor with speakers, I would recommend buying this monitor and a set of separate speakers because I have not found any monitor speakers that are more than just satisfactory for audio and useless for any real gaming or listening to music. Overall this is a great monitor that can be found for a great price at several on-line retailers.
