Ho Hum Performance

The Bottom Line: Keep shopping; there are much better systems out there that offer great sound quality for a few more bucks.
This is the 5th pair of computer speakers I've purchased, and the third pair of Logitech (one set from Klispch--much bang for the buck, and another set from Creative Labs, no substantive complaints). I bought the X-240s to upgrade the sound of an ihome I received for christmas and use in my bedroom.
My first complaint is the hardwired components. It's difficult to hide the wires as effectively as you can with other Logitech systems. Once I had everything hooked up--wires flailing everywhere--I was very disappointed in the quality of the sound. While it's definitely an improvement over the sound of the ihome standing alone, at higher volume levels the X-240 loses crispness and, confoundingly, seems to totally blank out at the midrange levels. Turn the subwoofer down and the satellites sound tinny and cheap.
I spent a little over forty bucks, which admittedly isn't a lot of dough. However, after listening to them I feel this system should be priced at about half that. The above-mentioned Klipsh set I own only cost around one hundred twenty dollars, and they sound better than the first real stereo system I ever purchased.
I would recommend spending just a little more for a better set, even on those offered by Logitech. I still have faith in this company's products. Two out of three ain't bad!
