XBox Just Can't Cut It

Date of Review: Nov 19, 2001

The Bottom Line:  Get a GameCube and wait for Metroid Prime, this is not the killer-app FPS Xbox is looking for...
Halo for the XBox would be good if you could control the friggin' character. The control is more like Turok for the N64 than like Goldeneye or Perfect Dark. I have fallen off many cliffs and lost lives because I end up strafing instead of turning.

The graphics are okay, but I sort of expect them to be on a computer from 1996 than a next-generation videogame system. The animations are good, but the framerate suffers in high-intensity situations, similar to games on N64.

The sound is the only redeeming quality. The Gregorian Chant for theme music is good, but doesn't hit all tastes. The dialogue is witty, and entertaining, but that won't save this game.

I don't have much experience with multiplayer, but chances are, after buying an Xbox, you won't be able to afford any more controllers anyway.
