iPod nano. Incredible interface, at a high price.
Date of Review: Jan 20, 2008
The Bottom Line: It is a decent player, but for people looking for features, go to Creative Zen V Plus.
This is a complete review of the iPod nano. I have owned it for several months now, and it has already been made obsolete by the 3G nano.
The iPod nano, at a retail price of 149 dollars, and only 2GB, does not out do its competitors in performance. There are many other MP3 Players that have an even better feature set at the same size but lower price level (i.e. Samsung YP-K3). Of course, it has the most revolutionary interface in the industry: the Click-wheel. The Click Wheel makes navigation through large libraries a breeze, although you will only be putting about 500 songs on your iPod.It automatically accelerates as you continue to scroll. The iPod nano also has a photo viewer, but it does not work with Windows Vista properly. There were not many settings; you cannot even adjust the brightness of the screen, because when the backlight is on during the night it is too harsh, and with the backlight off, not visible.
I give the iPod nano a 3/5 stars, citing the price and lack of FM Radio, Bluetooth, video playback, line in recording, and screen functionality as well as price.
A few other notes about the iPod nano 2G. The included earphones look, feel and sound very nice, and will get you noticed. It also has a cool feature that automatically pauses playback when you unplug the earphones. You can't change it. The included games are playable but not excellent.
