The greatest accolade the North Melbourne Football Club could bestow sits comfortably upon the broad shoulders of Glenn Archer. There may have been greater talents who wore the royal blue and white of the Kangaroos but none have come close to epitomising thr never-say-die attitude of this mighty player. As Glenn Archer bowed out of football at the end of the 2007 season, he was lauded by every section of the football world. He had played more games for the Kangaroos than any other. He had played in Premierships and been voted the Norm Smith Medallist in the game that matters the most - the Grand Final. The Glenn Archer story is one of resilience, of courage under fire. 'Arch' was simply the greatest shinboner of them all.

When Channel Seven broadcast the last quarter of an Essendon versus Collingwood game on Easter Sunday in 1957, a new era in television and sport was born. A ride which for 45 years has seen magical moments, controversies, heroes and characters all pass by on our TV screens, and Seven was there for every one of them. Narrated by Kevin Harrington (Seachange, The Dish) Heart of the Game captures all of the shows, the commentators, and the memories which have captured our imagination throughout the decades. From ‘Football Inquest’ to ‘World of Sport’, to the glamour and fashions at the Brownlows, those infamous Grand Final pre match entertainments, the great and not so great calls, the stuff-ups and bloopers, and, of course, the footy with all of its unforgettable marks, goals and inspirational highlights. Heart of the Game is a fun and nostalgic look back at the 45 years of football shown on Channel Seven, as seen through the camera lens….and from the armchair.

AFL Premiers 1968 - Carlton

A record crowd packed into the MCG to see two of the game's heavy hitters do battle for the flag of '68. Carlton went in a firm favourite having disposed of Essendon easily in the second Semi-Final, but such is the nature of any Grand Final the Bombers had plenty of backers after their win over Geelong in the Preliminary. The conditons were tough on match day with a strong cross wind making good football difficult, and Essendon's task made even more difficult when skipper Ken Fraser was declared unfit. But the match was saved by the closeness of the scores, which rareley saw the sides separated by more than one kick. Bomber youngster Geoff Blethyn, playing only his second game, was a thron in Carlton's side early, but by the time both sides had settled down it became apparent that this was to be a game of defences. Carlton's was one of the tightest in recent history - Colluins, Lofts, Gill, Goold and Hall(before being concussed) worked well together and made life tough for the Bomber forwards. Having struggle

It will be remembered as one of the most talked about Premierships in many years. Follow their triumph from the National Anthem through to the post match presentations. September 27, 1997. A day that will stand alone in the history opf South Australia football. The day the mighty Adelaide Crows fought tremendous odds to win the club's first AFL Premiership, defeating the highly fancied St Kilda in front of a massive crowd at the MCG. Malcolm Blight had been hailed as the saviour of the Crows when he was lured out of retirement to coach the club that finished 15th in 1996. He would take them to the top with a leap that smahsed every football record. Four successive finals victories, the last two in Melbourne, had never been achieved before. The Adelaide Crows of 1997 were something special and their Grand Final triumpf, the stuff that dreams are made of.

AFL Premiers 1977 - The Draw (Kangas)

You can't talk about the Grand Final of '77 without talkling about the draw - to this day no-one can beleive that North kicked 9.22 to draw that match. The following week was better, but still the Kangaroos proved they found it hard to kick straight. In the end Collingwood's resistance was short lived. North's ascendancy was clear by halftime of the replay, but the Magpies were still in touch. It stayed that way untill three quarter time, but after seven tough quarters of Grand Final football something had to give. That something was Collingwood. North had to be stopped in the final quarter, but it was impossible for the midfields and defences of either side to put in that extra effort, such had been the mental and physical pressure they had been put through. The eighth quarter saw North kick six goals and Collingwood seven, with one of those being Phil Manassas memorable running major, but after such an epic test of stamina a five goal break at the last change was always going to be a tough bridge. It was bey

This great piece of Australian Football memorabilia commemorates the 1989 VFL Grand Final victory of the Hawthorn Football Club, a game that will go down in history as one of the greatest. The piece consists of a full set of WEG player cards from the Hawks winning side, a plaque of the match statistics and has been framed alongside a signed black and white photograph of Dermott Brereton taken moments after he was hit with a huge shirtfront by Geelong's Mark Yeates.'The Kid' limped towards the forward pocket holding his ribs and vomiting, he was in obvious distress. However when a still frail-looking Brereton marked courageously in a pack and goaled, the Hawks were inspired, and began to attack the ball with the intensity of a truly great side. The last quarter however, was premiership football at it's very best. The physical treatment that the Hawthorn players had been dealt began to take its toll, the Hawthorn juggernaut began to slow dramatically. The Cats pounced on their opportunity, and with the mercurial

This great twin photographic piece commemorates one of the most memorable games played in the history of our great game, Hawthorn Vs Geelong in the 1989 VFL Grand Final. This game had everything a football fan could want to see in a single match, hard play, more than 40 goals scored during the game and a display of human spirit and strength that will never be forgotten by any fan who witnessed this match. This great piece consists of a personally signed photograph of Dermott Brereton which was taken only moments after he was crushed by Mark Yeates during the opening bounce of the game and a personally signed photograph of Robert Dipierdomenico being cleaned up by Gary Ablett. Both of the players, despite massive injuries, went on to play a major role in the Hawks win over Geelong that day. The item is finished off with a brass plaque of the match statistics. This is a true piece of football history.Another piece of outstanding memorabilia.
